Traits

Personality:
Karra is an individual who tries to be, for lack of a better term, a beacon in the dark for others. Granted, in practice, it's much less grand than that sounds. With a warm and kind demeanor, she works to just be a beneficial influence on the world and the people around her. From taking the time to sit and listen to others' issues, offer advice if requested, or just be there to help in whatever way she can, Karra tries to embody the phrase, "Leave things better than you found them."
In spite of being fairly reserved, especially with those she does not know, Karra is much more outgoing with those she's come to call friend. She loves genuine conversations, enjoying any chance she can take to learn about another individual. Although, while loving to learn about others and listen to their issues, very rarely will Karra open up to others and discuss her own past experiences.Goals and Motivations:
Karra's goal, although she'd likely not be able to put it into words, is to gain the knowledge and power to change the world into what she views to be a better place. Having been powerless in her youth, and suffering terribly because of it, she refuses to let that be the reality for those she calls friends or family.
This desire manifests as seizing any opportunity she can to learn new things; be it about people, ancient history, nobility, aetherology, or even something as small as how to make a particular settlement's signature food dish. Anything and everything learned, when applied properly, can be used for the betterment of the world around her.

Background

Then...

Karra Emberblood grew up under the shaded boughs of the northern Shroud as an only child with her parents. Her father was an Elezen man, and her mother was a Hyur woman. In spite of some of the possible issues with this, the three Emberbloods had continued the family's success within the Shroud; the family having established themselves within the citystate early in it's history. Due to their history, and their established position in the carpentry business, the family had earned respect amongst their peers within the citystate.Karra was known to be a troublemaker. She often found herself in situations that were difficult to get out of, and usually needed one or the other of her friends to bail her out much to her parents' chagrin. As often as she ran circles around her parents though, life was good.Later, when Karra was seventeen, her father developed an extremely aggressive unknown illness. The family took him to the conjurers within Gridania for help, however, they were unable to help him in time. His passing took a massive toll on the two remaining Emberbloods. While her mother and her tried to recover from the terrible loss together, Karra grew angry and bitter. She often clashed with her mother or friends, wanting to be angry at the world, the conjurers, or anything that she could blame for the void she felt. Many arguments, thrown objects, and staying at any place other than home later, Karra left her mother behind. It was shortly thereafter when the events of the Calamity occurred. Afterwards, being alone in the wake of the terrible event, Karra set out to find a place to call home.

Now...

This search for a home came to an end on a snowy afternoon within the Holy See of Ishgard. Karra met Freylana Dimora, an Au Ra woman, within the halls of the Forgotten Knight. The two hit it off, and quickly became very close friends.Shortly thereafter, finding solace together following the Calamity, the two settled in Ishgard. In an attempt to provide for themselves, the two established the Calming Crescent Cafe. The early days were rough, but the two made it through.Over that first year together, the two also met Rusu Daito. They'd been on a trip to Ul'dah when they found the Au Ra woman, passed out from exhaustion. The two helped her, and after she recovered, the three became close friends; with Rusu joining Freylana and Karra in working at the Calming Crescent.Once fully settled in Ishgard, Karra then spent a number of years traveling, seeing all she could see amongst the various realms of Eorzea. She made a number of acquaintences, connections, and even friends throughout the varius city-states during this time. She also found and unearthed much, establishing herself as an independent researcher for the Grand Companies of Eorzea.Taking comfort in the dusty tomes of the past, Karra found a calling that would forever change her. After one of her research outings, Karra disappeared without a trace for a year before returning suddenly. To those that ask, all Karra will say is that she took a leave of absence for personal health reasons; refusing to elaborate further. In the time since returning, Karra has almost entirely stopped going out on research outings. She instead spends time with Freylana and Rusu at the Calming Crescent. Having grown deeply attached to this new family, she is loathe to leave them like her last; the void of regret from before still ever present.

RP Hooks

Scholar At Heart

If given the opportunity, Karra will take any and every chance she has to learn new things. This is especially true for learning things about other people. Things from someone's favorite food, to parts of their history. Anything and everything that someone is willing to share is worthwhile to learn.

Wealth of Knowledge

Having visited many places in the pursuit of knowledge, Karra has an abundance of information on the peoples, places, and histories of the realms of Hydaelyn. She is more than willing to share her findings with those interested in learning.

Found Family

Karra cares deeply for those she's come to call friend or family, and is willing to do anything for them. If any of them call on her, she'll be ready to answer. Sometimes this can even be to her own detriment, often with her placing the needs and desires of others over her own.

Closed Off

Karra very rarely opens up to others with any level of true depth, however those hidden elements of her character sometimes find their way into conversation ~ waiting to be picked up by an observant eye.

General Info:
I'm on the Crystal DC on Coeurl, and I'm in the CST timezone. I tend to be on at least for a little bit on any given evening, and I'm online on weekends a lot. However, I can be pretty busy depending on the week.
I don't accept random friend requests, but I will usually respond to messages (if appropriate) so feel free to send a message. I'm happy to reply!Roleplay Info:
I often only RP in game, but Discord may be available. Feel free to ask! If you want to set something up for an RP session, just let me know.
I am still relatively new to roleplaying in Final Fantasy, but I enjoy roleplaying with people of any experience! I'll try to match my style to yours as best as I can. I usually do 1-2 multi-paragraph posts, but that can sometimes go upwards of 3 for the really long posts.Themes wise, I prefer more slice-of-life RP that fits within FFXIV's world building/lore. However, I love telling collaborative stories that are fun for both of us, and whatever that may entail! With that, most of my RP tends to be self-contained. It does not usually affect the larger canon/story for Karra as that's tied to a few specific characters. However, if we discuss it, and RP more regularly, that could develop into a shared canon/story that affects the larger picture! For full transparency, I often can be slow to respond. This is in no way an issue on your part! I'm usually just stuck trying to get the message just right prior to sending it (thanks anxiety). In case this is an issue, let me know. You're also more than welcome to poke me to check in.Rules/Preferences:
For SFW interactions, I RP with people that are 18+ or older, both in/out of character. NSFW interactions are strictly 21+, both in/out of character. No exceptions.
I'm fine chatting OOC as I'm able to, however I am not my character. Anything that occurs in-character is strictly in-character. This is especially true for anything romantic/intimate.About Me:
Hey! Thanks for reading this far. For some info about me, I'm 21+, and I go by they/them. I love video games, listening to music, writing, and whatever else I can work on!
